Just who is responsible for those astronaut stickers on the street signs?

Curbiture: Hi Logan, I’m so glad we get to interview you. Are you the mysterious person behind Charlottesville’s local astronaut stickers?

Logan: Yes! It is a design that I came up with because I wanted something cool to put on a sticker. There are several around Charlottesville.

Curbiture: Is there a specific meaning behind this?

Logan: Well, the logo is of an astronaut sitting on the moon. I think I’ve always been a bit of a loner so the idea of being in a moment like that where one is separated and distant from the rest of humanity is a cool perspective to think about, especially as a DJ.

Curbiture: That’s beautiful symbolism. I can see how music can connect or perhaps tether one to the world. How would you describe what kind of DJ you are?

Logan: It changes depending on where I am. I do a lot of gigs that are “open format” where I play a combination of all genres, but I also play a lot of sets that are mostly house and edm related. I’m flexible.

Curbiture: As a DJ of all genres, what is the craziest party you’ve ever been to?

Logan: In 2022 I opened for Kygo at a billboard event for SXSW in Austin, TX. The show was at an amphitheater and it was Insane. I had also recently done a remix of Jasmine Alkouri’s hit “Harder On Me” which caught the ears of RedFoo from LMFAO. He came to the show and we went out after.

Curbiture: Really?

Logan: Yeah. Great memory

Curbiture: Has there ever been a time where you were afraid of the people in the audience?

Logan: Actually, no. I probably should have been though. Not all shows are safe.

Curbiture: Do you have any safety tips? For men or women.

Logan: At a show? Buy your own drinks.

Curbiture: Even for public parties?

Logan: If you didn’t see the bartender make it... don’t drink it. This goes for men too.

Curbiture: If I wanted to have an after-work party with a bunch of coworkers from S&P what music would you suggest?

Logan: House music for sure

Curbiture: Okay, how about a middle school audience?

Logan: At this point in my life I don’t know what a middle school audience would listen to.

Curbiture: Fair point. I’m not even sure how kids dance anymore.

Logan: Yeah, not a gig I’d take.

Curbiture: So in 2023, what would you say is your favorite international song?

Logan: Definitely Daga Da by Sammy Virji.

Curbiture: Excellent choice. As we wrap up our interview is there anything you want Charlottesville to know about the local music scene?

Logan: Although I’m from Nashville, I wandered into a bar on the downtown mall and heard “Eggy” playing. I’m not sure where they are from, but it was a great local experience. Charlottesville seems like a cool place for new music.

Curbiture: Thank you so much for talking with us. I hope you’ll come back. For those who are interested in knowing more, check out Logan Garett’s website.
